The Hollygog Run
Here’s something a little different for you…
Combining a fun run with a tasty snack, and taking you through the South Oxfordshire countryside from our restaurant to our pub, let us introduce you to the Hollygog Run.
Taking place on Saturday 26th October, at any time after 11am, the Hollygog is a 5 mile run from Five Little Pigs to The Bear in North Moreton, but when you get to the pub the clock doesn’t stop. You’ve only finished the event when you’ve eaten a portion of famous (and proudly Oxfordshire) hollygog pudding. It’s like an isotonic sports drink, just heartier and nothing like an isotonic sports drink.
It costs £2 to enter (proceeds go to our charity partner, The Earth Trust), and, while we hope you all keep an eye on your times, the emphasis is as much on fun as it is on phyiscal performance. Run with the family (kids encouraged to pedal along), and enjoy a brunch beforehand or lunch after. Every entrant will also be entered into a raffle, with prizes including dinners for four at both Pigs and the Bear and a £50 from RunWize, Wallingford’s fantastic independent sports shop, who are partnering with us on the run.
The Route
The official route is around 5 miles, and runs from Pigs via Brightwell and Mackney to North Moreton. You’re able to download a GPX of this route here:
However, if you’d rather take a different route, that’s OK too! As we say, the focus is on fun and getting outdoors so the more creative the route the better. Just make sure to tag us and RunWize in any photos you take during the day.
To help our team get those hollygogs baked to perfection, we’ve set up a Facebook event to keep an eye on numbers and do let us know you’re taking part by clicking on the link below.

See you out on the trail and remember, don’t be a pudding!
